I'm still trying to figure out which is more unethical (if either one is): that Schmidt unabashedly tried to pass of this op-ed piece as her own, or that the 1866-established People's Defender actually published it without any semblance of fact-checking. I mean, that is, in part, what editorial assistants and copy editors are hired for.
And so does this mean that we no longer have to teach that "plagiarismo" is a bad thing? I mean, if Schmidt can pull it off like this without the house of cards coming down around her, then why do little Johnny and Susie have to worry about it all?
Oh. Wait. Yeah, that's right. There's that notion that ethics, integrity and honesty still exist in this democracy.
From today's Enquirer article... this is the kind of excuse one should expect from a leader, I suppose.
"This time, he said, the staff member was on maternity leave, so the Schmidt campaign decided to use the piece put out by the House Republican Caucus."
So Schmidt can't write. At least we know that much about her.
Have the papers taken any action yet?
ReplyDeleteWow. AMAAAAZING!
