Jesus...not this again:
"In a stunning push back against incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., House Democrats on Thursday elected Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland as majority leader for the 110th Congress."
That's not to say I favored either or, but the tone in the new majority seems to be getting ugly, and this time, the far left has nothing to do with it.
Can we just start fixing the country? Please?!?
Fret not the bleatings of the MSM.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the Dems swept into power on (other than the CROTHBL) the notion of cleaning up the corruption in the federal government, I would have been somewhat disappointed had they named a majority leader who was named in ABSCAM.
Murtha will still have stroke. Hoyer is a VERY smart guy. You think the parliamentary procedure stuff that Reid pulled gave you wood? Just wait...
It's a win-win for Pelosi. She still "supports her friends," yet she can still then say that "Hoyer was nominated by the will of the Democratic party caucus" and work seamlessly with him, while Murtha can slam the GOP on Iraq over and over without worrying about being hit as a "majority leader" like...say...DeLay was...
It's all good. Breathe.
Not so much the choice, really, as the whole tenor of this argument. After watching the Dem's bicker themselves into near oblivion, it makes one a little gun shy.
ReplyDeleteI'm just grateful, and always surprised, to hear so much talk about Democrats in the news. And I prefer the messiness of bottom-up governance to the systematic constipation of top-down governance.
ReplyDeleteTrue.
ReplyDeleteI just fear that the whole NeoCon agenda, and its "conservative" sycophants, haven't been discredited enough that they won't work this to death, especially with Lott as Minority Whip ( as they pointed out on the Daily Show, a post he was born for.)
