Fer Crissakes

Is this really what it comes down to?

via Covington email

"For fuck's sake, on Diane Rehm this morning, the panel is discussing whether the fact that Barrack Obama is a cigarette smoker will torpedo his campaign. The consensus was that a smoker cannot be elected president."

This is one of the reasons I never listen to NPR: What the hell do any of these soma-folk know about the goddamned people.

Allow me to illuminate: People want to know why their Moms, Dads, Brothers and Sisters are still in Iraq, if they haven't already come home in a box. People want to know whether their pensions, which they worked all their lives for, will be safe. People want to know why we no longer innovate and why the manufacturing has been shipped overseas. People want to know why all the wealth keeps going up, and why its never comes back down.

And these geniuses are worried about whether a guy has trouble quitting cigarettes? What could that possibly have to do with being President.

Besides, Obama's success or failure (likely failure) in '08 will have nothing to do with his smoking, and will have everything to do with the fact he hasn't served a full term yet...

...or this shit...

Or this shit.

  1. Jesus Christ!

It figures, though. The question is whether the Dems are planning to do anything about this, or is this just one of those massive injustices that we grow used to.

  2. I can see a crop of Swift Smokers, running ads of kids in cancer wards, all ending with a black and white picture of Obama with a cig in his mouth. They get more and more outlandish until a soulfully big-eyed Jeb (or whoever else is running) speaks out against them.

The public sees Obama repeatedly smeared and buys the GOP frontman as the fair-minded peace-maker.

The issue is moronic but they'll make hay out of it.
