nothing racist about me. just can't reveal my name on the net because i work with mostly liberal clients who would not be tolerant enough to let me have the blog
thanks for looking though. feel free to comment on anything in specific that you want to defend obama on
I love that-"intolerant", as in "liberals are supposed to be tolerant, blah blah blah"...
Let ask you, anonymous: Care to elucidate your political philosophy? It seems to me that taking issue with where the man goes to church is a bit odd, if I'm reading between the lines correctly.
i take issue with anyone that is a memeber of a church or organization that promote a "non-negotiable commitment to" any country in the world if they are running for president.
I also think people have a right to know how obama thinks and who he associates with. Just look at those items from the church and take out black and ad white.
would you not call a person who did that racist? Obama is something old in a new package. people need to see the old
First Off: Africa is a continent, and not a country, and as far as a "non-negotiable commitment", my years of Catholic education seem to remind me of a "non-negotiable commitment" to the Vatican. This was the rap on Kennedy, that he would take orders from the Pope, which is, of course, ridiculous. I would imagine the same question would befall a Jewish or Muslim Presidential Candidate.
Similarly, many of your more right wing leaning Protestant faiths make a similar bargain regarding Jerusalem, ostensibly to "support" the Jewish people.
Thus, Obama's affiliation is a recognition of his heritage, and the spiritual home Black people throughout the diaspora, many of whom were removed by force through colonialist policies. The recognition of the responsibility of one black man to support and help uplift the people trapped in that post colonial mess is a far cry from any sort of "black separatist" movement. Marcus Garvey he ain't.
The race/racist allegation doesn't hold water, because their is no assertion of supremacy of one group over another. Pride in one's heritage and supermacist attitudes are far different things.
So what is left to be gleaned from your blog?
You are certainly right wing, because you bring up taxes, abortion, same sex marriage, and Mitch McConnell. Fine.
But I'm curious; Why Obama? Why not Clinton or Edwards?
POTUS, one of the few remaining bastions of all-white maledom, is actually facing a legitimate threat to its 218-year, 43 consecutive President run. I'm sure a lot of people like Anonymous are feeling the pain right about now.
My guess is that anonymous, like many others, is looking for something, anything to knock whomever they feel is the greatest threat to a non-republican (?) or maybe non-conservative (whatever "conservative" means these days after the current administration's exercises). Swiftboating doesn't require facts or even a rational argument. It just needs to be repeated.
"Similarly, many of your more right wing leaning Protestant faiths make a similar bargain regarding Jerusalem, ostensibly to "support" the Jewish people."
and i oppose those people as well.
Your catholic argument falls a little short from the standpoint that most catholics (including kennedy)are born into the religion and many start to ignore it's teaching very quickly. There is a difference between that and an adult making the decision to align himself with an organization.
I made the choice of obama not because he was black as so many of you seem to think but instead for 2 reasons. 1. he was getting ready to make a visit to cincinnati. 2. with edwards, clinton etc. they have a longer paper trail that people already know.
perhaps when a few people grow up enough to see that I have in no way attacked his race they can move past that and look at issues.
Just out of curiosity if a group decide that it was important to ensure that leaders embrace a "white value system" would you not think of them as racist?
"Your catholic argument falls a little short from the standpoint that most catholics (including kennedy)are born into the religion and many start to ignore it's teaching very quickly."
1. Would you oppose a Catholic convert who didn't ignore the Church's teachings?
2. Do you have any evidence that Obama is acting on his church's dogma? If he's ignoring on a Catholic level, is he okay?
A "white value system", tragically, is the system that has spawned centuries of injustice, oppression, avarice and prejudice. To some degree, all leaders are beholden to it.
The wingnuts, including Fukker, keep saying they don't have a problem with the 12 points, just the inclusion of the word "black." They play dumb asking somebody to please explain it to them. Fine. Here it is. The term "black" as it is used in "The Black Value System" is a reference to the audience. It's a motivational tool tailored to a specific audience: congregates of Trinity UCC. My guess is that congregation is overwhelmingly, though not exclusively, black. It doesn't make Obama a racist, but it sure makes the wingnuts' hissy fits over the issue look racially-inspired.
Sounds like another dumbass racist with a huge chip on his shoulder.
ReplyDeleteThe utter anonymity of that blogger is rather telling, to me.
ReplyDeleteI'd send him or her (or them) a white pillow case, but I don't know whence to send it.

You see, Wiz, Obama is one o' them KNEEEEgrows, and as such he's a larger threat than Hitlery or Breck Girl.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, if one of THEM can become President, then some deserving white guy isn't allowed to be. Or something like that.

Oops. I meant "...greatest threat AS a non-republican..."

After reading this document, I'm not exactly sure what the issue is?
