This is kind of sad, really. What have we lost?
"'There's no point in coming to the United States now that there's a united Europe', said Hebal, 54, who received refugee status in the United States in 1981 after Poland, then led by a Communist regime, declared martial law while she was visiting Chicago. 'Poles have more freedom than ever, so less people are coming. It's kind of hard'."
No longer a beacon of freedom or hope, bankrupt of any discernible culture that is not money driven, our creed now a cruel joke? What has become of us?
i don't think we were ever considered a cultural beacon. with a figure like GWB at the helm we are ALL seen as oafs--after we did vote him in.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but it is interesting on how we congratulate ourselves with the envy of the world when that doesn't really exist.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. Cute kids, by the way.
After hearing GWB's comment this weekend that the rest of the world does not "appreciate" all that we do in terms of aid, I had to agree. The veracity of his statement actually points out that our biggest problem is GWB himself. He's an absolute PR liability--something he cannot grasp.
