Is it possible that we have lived through the synergy of repressive and stupid? Is it possible that the kind of paranoid, imperial ambition of these right wingers, who have pretended at omniscence, could be undone by the mere fact that one of these geniuses forgot to pay the fucking phone bill?
See, if you hadn't had such a hard on for de-regulation...

Actually, here's further proof: Jonah Goldberg hocking a book called Liberal Fascism. No, no...wait for it, wait for it...
"I'm not saying that today's liberalism is the son of Nazism or the son of Italian fascism. I'm saying it's sort of like the great-grandniece once removed."
???
"Idiots Rule" is right.
ReplyDeleteJonah Goldberg is such a wanker. The hypocrisy is palpable here: on the one hand, Liberals are constantly chided by the Right for misrepresenting fact and historicity. On the other hand, that's precisely what Goldberg does in that MSNBC Morning Joe video clip. For example:
"Jonah Goldberg said that Benito Mussolini is tied to the American liberal movement because he 'was a socialist.'"
Seriously? No, seriously? This is a classic example of a LACK of historical accuracy, a LACK of intellectual discernment, and an example of the most reductive kind of essentialism--arguing that merely because a political movement (e.g., Socialism) is a movement in the broadest strokes that it, therefore, is akin to Fascism (or Nazism) or in this case Liberalism. I mean, really.
Someone please revoke this guy's undergraduate degree and send him back to High School!

But... but wait!! I thought we were s'posed to provide the telecom companies with unlimited immunity against future lawsuits because they supported us in Most Glorious And Patriotic Struggle!
ReplyDeleteWe don't pay the bill, and they back right out of their end of the deal? I thought they were complicit in spying on us out of ... sniff.... the patriotic and righteous goodness of their hearts?
