I found a crumpled copy of
The Boston Phoenix on the T last weekend with an article on
The 40 greatest concerts in Boston history. Very entertaining. Takes me back to Zappa at Cincy Gardens, Black Flag at The Jockey Club, Royal Crescent Mob at Bogarts. Ah, the memories.
There's some pictures of that Black Flag show at this excellent Web site.
ReplyDeleteStop rubbing it in, fucker...
ReplyDeleteI know for sure I was at this show:
ReplyDelete12/6/85 Love & Rockets / Toy Automatic / Crossfire Choir
I remember it mostly because I had a thing for the bass player of Crossfire Choir. He was also in Let's Active, so I followed them around for awhile, too. :-)
I also remember being at one of the D.O.A. shows. Vaguely.
That website is amazing!! I'm going to spend the next three hours gazing at it, I think.
I forgot about DAO - I saw their show at the Jockey Club, too. Would loved to have seen Love and Rockets!
ReplyDeleteAnd everyone knows my Black Flag story. Best to stay back from the mosh pit while on crutches.

That sight is unbelievably cool. I've gotta find a Fosters oilcan to throw at somebody.
ReplyDeleteThe Jockey Club was so great. I'm a bit younger than most of the regulars there and came around a bit late.
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget the first time I played there -- we were opening for a punk band from Boston. After the soundcheck, I sat -- with a Foster's, of course -- staring at my drums, and thinking they looked like the back cover of the Mats' "Tim" record. I think about 30 people showed up that night, but it's still one of my fave shows of all time.
I'd like to do a top 10 shows I've seen in Cinti list, but I don't have time at the moment.
Anyone here used to go to the Metro? Still my fave Cinti club of all time.
