The President's Heir Unapparent
(quotation taken from Pasolini's Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom, "Bush Drunk" photo taken from www.bloggerheads.com, recontextualized by moi.)
Who is innocent in this orgy of violence and oppression. Bush certainly isn't, and neither are these simple fools vying for the "privelege" of being his successor. This, of course, does not allow for the abdication of the responsibility of those Democrats who voted for this disaster-I am fully willing to lay the blame on everyone responsible, including Clinton, Edwards et al, not to mention all those folks who I still see, in full daylight and for all to see, driving around with W04 stickers. How do they sleep at night?
And how do these "hopefuls", whoring for the GOP nomination, sleep at night, knowing full well this President and his policies have been the worst thing to happen to this country, eclipsing the attack that he so callously uses to justify himself.
Do they know that this guy has burned down the GOP, gone forever, perhaps, as Buckley has recently argued.
Do they know that they are complicit to the murder of Conservatism by putting party over principle, and knowing supporting a man for who Conservatism was just a convenient distracting label, a bit of Orwellian double speak, to conceal the consolidation of power in one branch of government, a greater threat to liberty and the Constitution than any bogey man fear of a liberal welfare state.
Do they know that they are shackled to a sinking ship, perhaps the last Republican candidate?
Do they care? Of course not.
It should be great fun watching them tear each to pieces, like the snarling bloodthirsty bastards they really are, and, with no sense of irony or decency, how many references to Jesus they can cram in.
Enjoy, folks. It is the beginning of the end.
UPDATE:
Covington, Monsignor Sheperd, and I all repaired to the Downunder to watch the spectacle. I believe we predicted 40% of the jingos, give or take. Hard to say, though-I drank enough Dunkel and Jagermeister to kill a lesser magic user.
Evidentally, McCain won, and MSNBC hates Giuliani.

Wiz - Your stereotyping and generalizing makes you look like an angry simpleton. Surely you can do better? Please.
ReplyDeleteAngy simpleton? I've been called alot of things, but this is a new one.
ReplyDeleteWhat, praytell, am I generalizing? Who am I stereotyping? Can you be specific?
You have to love the irony in the vagueness of anon's accusation of generalizing.
ReplyDeleteWhy do I get the feeling anon still has his "W: The President" sticker in plain view?
ReplyDeleteYou write:
ReplyDelete"Do they care? Of course not".
How do you know what they care about? Do they all have the same set of ideas and ideals? Somehow I doubt it.
You speak of "their" references to Jesus, as if they all have the same faith and religious beliefs. That's nonsense plain and simple.
As for their "whoring", I guess that term should be used for any candidate running for any office. Point being, if you want to rip into the candidates, do so on an individual basis, and tell us what you so despise about each one. But you lump them together, as if they are all interchangeable Stepfords. That's fine if you believe it. But it certainly is not persuasive and it's intellectually lazy.
And I don't have, and never did have, a W bumper sticker. I think he's been an atrocious leader, and caused irreparable harm to our standing in the world. But it's time to look forward and make things better, not carp about what might have been.
Fair Enough, Anon (do I know you?-I think maybe I do):
ReplyDeleteAside from Ron Paul, I did not here one person up there meaningful refudiate Bush.
They all claim Conservative Credentials, but of a social conservative variety, not a fiscal conservatism, and certainly not a Goldwater conservatism.
All are trying to get in bed with the Religious Right, which, to me, shows that they haven't figured out a goddamned thing about what the hell went wrong with this administration.
As to your point about "whoring", you are correct, but I would point to what I have written about the Dem's debate as proof I recognize the that the whoring goes both ways-The ostensible front runner for the Democratic nomination fills me with no great hope, believe you me.
As far as interchangable stepfords, you tell me: Republicans know none of these guys are much of a choice.
And I would agree that it is time to look forward, but I must be pessimistic about that. The damage has been done, and I am uneasy as to whether ANY of the candidates are able to begin to repair it.
I don't think you know me. I'm Joe, the guy Covington used to delete constantly. He didn't seem to be quite as open minded as you are. I'm too busy to spend time upsetting the apple cart (some would say trolling - and sometimes it was!) anymore, but you have an interesting blog. Wish more people would comment.
ReplyDeleteLater,
Joe
Holy crap!! That Dick Morris column has to be the most simple-minded analysis I have ever seen--and I taught remedial freshman English. Take a look at these gems:
ReplyDelete"...they (MSNBC) paid homage to their Democratic Party masters..."
"Romney, who had the most face time of all of the candidates, showed himself to be the handsome, well-spoken candidate that he is...his homilies to family, God and country will sound good to Republican ears."
"(Huckabee's) unique style came through when he defended his pro-life views by asking why, if we 'move heaven and earth' to find hikers lost on Mt. Hood or in a coal mine, we don’t defend human life in the womb." (Does anybody follow that logic?)
